Acttuary courses are interactive text, not videos. Reading is faster than watching, and easier to search and revisit. Every few minutes a lesson stops telling you things and asks you to do something.
Three things you'll meet in every course:
1. Short, direct lessons
Each lesson covers one idea in a few minutes of reading, with no padding and no recaps. The profession runs on precise written communication, so you may as well get used to it now.
2. Quizzes
Most lessons ask a few questions as you go. Every answer comes with an explanation, and once you're signed in your score is saved to your progress. Try it:
Check your understanding
Three weeks after finishing a lesson you want to re-check one figure in it. Why does a written lesson get you back to that figure faster than a recorded lecture would?
You work through the quiz inside a lesson before signing in. What do you get, and what do you not get?
3. Spreadsheets and Python
Actuarial work happens in spreadsheets and, increasingly, in Python, so the lessons use both. The next lesson lets you try a calculation and run some Python.
