Howden actuarial graduate scheme, internship and deadlines

A broker or capital adviser. The actuarial work supports placing risk and raising capital, rather than pricing and reserving inside an insurer. Every actuarial route we follow at Howden is below, with the window in the employer’s own words, the closing date where one is published, and the day it was last read.

What to know
The insurance and reinsurance broking group's early careers page is the only one anywhere in the Howden group, and it sorts applicants by school leavers, graduates and career changers rather than by discipline. It names no actuarial route: its one use of the word is a general industry sentence saying you may have heard of some of the roles, brokers, underwriters, claims handlers, and actuaries. So treat this as a broking scheme an actuarial career can start from rather than an actuarial scheme. All degrees are welcome. Howden acquired Barnett Waddingham on 7 April 2025, in Howden's own words creating one of the largest pensions and employee benefits firms in the UK, and barnett-waddingham.co.uk now redirects wholesale to Howden's Barnett Waddingham page; the pensions actuarial teams that page describes sit inside Howden UK, but no Howden page says this scheme routes into them. That page also says prospective candidates can still search and apply through the existing Careers Portal while Howden transitions to a single careers board: that portal, the Oracle one Barnett Waddingham always used, carried 17 live UK vacancies on 8 September 2026 and every one was an experienced hire. Howden's own Workday board carried no live UK actuarial early-careers posting the same day.

What to know
Internships and apprenticeships run alongside Howden's graduate programme on the same cycle and off the same page, which names no actuarial route and no month for 2027. Since Howden acquired Barnett Waddingham on 7 April 2025 this page is where Barnett Waddingham's own early careers pages now lead: barnett-waddingham.co.uk redirects wholesale into Howden's site, and the internships Barnett Waddingham used to advertise in its eleven UK offices no longer have a page of their own. The legacy Oracle careers portal both firms share carried 17 live UK vacancies on 8 September 2026, all experienced hires and none an internship.

What to do now

There is no date here to act on yet. Read the employer’s own page for anything published since the date beside each row, and spend the wait on the parts of an application that do not need an open window: the CV, the numerical and situational tests, and something to say about why this employer.
